SealMasters of K.C., Inc., your concrete sealing company in Overland Park was created in 2006 out of a need to find a real solution to deck protection that would last. I'd built a new deck in 2001 after tearing off the old, rotten, unsafe deck on our new home. That spring I spent large amount of time and money constructing a nearly 500 square foot deck that we could be proud to enjoy and entertain on. After careful research and product selection (or so I thought) I stained and sealed the new deck in the fall of 2001. By the spring of 2002 it was looking bad, so I went through all the prescribed steps again, but this time I got to start by stripping all the old stain off, prior to the re-stain and re-seal. Well I went through that 2 more times, yes a total of 4 times from 2001 to 2004! 2005 I skipped it entirely, out of shear disgusted. I knew I couldn't just let it sit there and rot away, besides it was too ugly to do anything on. We noticed we had more parties then first year or so, then we'd had in recent years.
In early 2006, I began looking for that product that would protect and last. I found that there were several companies that were offering a permanent seal. It sounded too good to be true so I did a little research. I even found that there was a company that had been doing this kind of work for a couple years here in Prairie Village. I later talked to that owner, who was interested in selling at that time. I researched that company and during that research, discovered SealRx. I made a few phone calls to Atlanta, and decided to make a trip down, to see what this was all about. I found that SealRx had many product and warranty advantages and decided to move forward with SealRx.
2006 was an extremely busy year! Putting all aspects of a business together, while working a corporate job was a real challenge. I was able to complete about 30 decks and 10 driveways in a few short months, way beyond my initial goals for the year.
2007 was the year that SealMasters went full time, and we became the market leader for sealing of wood and concrete in Prairie Village. For a second year we exceeded my lofty goals, this time, by over 60%, growing sales over 1400% from 2006. We also added Amazing Garage Floors to the mix, offering some of the best looking and durable floors available.
2008 Was another banner year, we moved back to Olathe (our 3rd location, as we kept growing and expanding) and grew our business nearly 40% over 2007.
2009 has been another exciting year. We added Wood-D-Fence, our line of deck and fence stains that may be applied over SealRx, or without. Wood-D-Fence stains are economical and easy to re-apply, saving time and money. We’re in a full sprint trying to keep up with customers. I’m declaring the recession over at this time, as we haven’t been this busy for at least 1 ½ years!
